Greenbelt project moves forward

FAIRBANKS - An effort is moving forward to establish a 670-acre greenbelt to run across the base of Chena Ridge.

In the past three years, the greenbelt project has assembled more than one-third of the property needed for the greenbelt.

The greenbelt project began in 2005 when neighbors in the Chena Point area grew concerned with the prospect of gravel pits popping up across nearby land. Since then, it has drawn interest and support from a handful of developers and nonprofits and from neighbors.
