Army Pvt. Kevin B. Vick and Army National Guard Pvts. Jeremy Harpe and Drew E. Shannon have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, and field training exercises.

Vick is the son of Debbe Jackson of Juneau.

Harpe is the grandson of Sherman and Ann Strain of Sitka and is a 2006 graduate of Pacific High School in Sitka.

Shannon is the son of Donald Shannon of Ketchikan, and brother of Dustin Shannon of Anchorage. He is a 2006 graduate of Tri-Valley High School in Healy.

Army National Guard Pvt. Edward D. Horton has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Horton is the son of Bertha Horton, and stepson of Michael Delez, both of Juneau. He is a 2006 graduate of Southeast Regional Resource Center of Juneau.
