Contra Dance

New Year's Eve Barn Dance at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. St. Ann's Parish Center (Fifth and Harris streets downtown). Live music with Michael Sakaris and other musicians and dance caller Tom Paul. All dances taught. Beginners welcome. No partners necessary. Bring clean, soft-soled shoes for dancing. Cost is $8 public, $7 members of the Alaska Folk Festival and Juneau International Folk Dancers, $5 seniors and students. For information, call 321-3109.

New Year's Eve Dance

Third annual New Year's Eve dance from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. Dec. 31, at VFW Hall. Entertainment features Salsa Borealis and DJ music with hip hop and latin dance performances. The party is open to all ages and cost is $10 for adults, $7 for students and free to children under 10. Tropical attire is encourages with prizes awarded for the best salsa outfit. Global Peace Dance

Dances of Universal Peace presents a global peace dance starting at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, at the Seventh Heaven Yoga Studio, located at Vintage Park, 3017 Clinton Drive. Gather to link with dance circles around the world and join with others to focus our prayers for world peace through song, dance and meditation. Bring a snack for a potluck.
