The Eaglecrest Board of Directors has selected the winners of the Hilary Lindh Scholarships. There were 20 very strong applicants this year making the selection difficult for the committee. The 2012-2013 recipients of the Hilary Lindh Season Pass Scholarship are Claire Engstrom, Iosefa Allen, Daniella Fincher and Dalton Hoy.
Engstrom is a 4th Grader at Gastineau Elementary School. Her favorite thing is "Snow!" and loves to jump over hills and going through the Eaglecrest trees. She is an active runner in her school's marathon club and has finished top 3 in many races she has set her sights on. Claire plans to celebrate her winnings by getting a basket of her favorite Eaglecrest French Fries and dip them in her cup of Hot Chocolate!
Allen is a 1st Grader at Riverbend Elementary School. He is extremely excited to use his pass to learn to snowboard. Iosefa is an active in swimming, marathon club and has jumped with the Riverbend Ropers. He loves everything outdoors and is excited to take on snowboarding this season! To celebrate, Iosefa said he plans to go snowboarding with his Mom.
Fincher is a 12th Grader at Yaakoosge Daakahidi High School. She is an exceptional student with a 4.0 GPA, is preparing for college and her ultimate goal is to have a career in nursing. Daniella is an extremely hardworking and empathetic individual. One teacher referred to her work ethic as "exceptional" and described her personality as "contagious, sincere and kind." Daniella intends to further her snowboarding abilities and hopes to even give skiing another go.
Hoy is a 6th Grader at D'zantik'I Heeni Middle School. Dalton is an active young man who participates in hockey, plays trumpet in his school's band as well as cello in the Student Symphony. A teacher of his says Dalton has "an abundance of energy and is a natural athlete with promising ability."
He is very excited to receive this scholarship to be able to spend more time with his friends and family on the mountain at Eaglecrest.
The Hilary Lindh Season Pass Scholarship program was established in 1992 in recognition of Hilary's silver medal in the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics and of the hard work that she has dedicated to downhill ski racing. Each year the Eaglecrest Board of Directors awards four season passes to one girl and one boy in grades K through 5, as well as one boy and one girl in grades 6 through 12.
