JUNEAU - KTOO and CoastAlaska are among 20 organizations nationwide selected to participate in Leadership for Philanthropy, an initiative funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to assist stations in building major gift fundraising programs.
KTOO general manager Bill Legere and CoastAlaska Executive Director Mollie Kabler were selected through a competitive application process for the intensive, yearlong training program. Over the next 12 months, Kabler and Legere will receive training and will work with nationally-recognized consultants to develop a major giving program at the CoastAlaska stations in Southeast. The new program will compliment KTOO's and CoastAlaska's successful individual membership and business underwriting efforts.
The program, administered by the Minneapolis-based DEI, focuses on laying the groundwork and directly cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts. DEI is public radio's fundraising and marketing service organization, serving over 245 member stations.
KTOO operates three public radio stations and two public television channels. CoastAlaska is a regional organization providing financial, engineering and fundraising support for public radio stations throughout Southeast Alaska.
