JUNEAU - The United States Coast Guard's Regional Examination Center has moved to a new location.
Formerly located at the Coast Guard Sector Juneau Office on Sherwood Lane, the REC will begin operating from its new location in the Mendenhall Mall starting Dec. 15.
As part of the nationwide restructuring and centralization of the Mariner Licensing and Documentation program, REC Juneau became a field unit of the National Maritime Center, located in Martinsburg, W. Va., last April.
REC Juneau is now running as a storefront operation where the staff will help mariners ensure their application is ready for evaluation before forwarding to the National Maritime Center. The REC also will administer professional examinations to mariners as part of the credentialing process.
The REC can be reached by phone at (907) 463-2458 and by fax at (907) 463-2483. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
REC Juneau's new address will be:U.S. Coast Guard Regional Examination Center (REC) Juneau, 9105 Mendenhall Mall Rd., Suite 170, Juneau, Alaska 99801.
