Under the direction of Leslie Wood, the program includes world music, jazz, gospel, and contemporary music including works the group has commissioned.
"It's a combination of Pride Chorus Famous Hits and some fun new pieces," Wood said. "Plus we also are presenting small ensembles including solos, a quartet and a sextet."
Among the new choral works are selections from "Menopause: The Musical" and a choral setting of the children's song "If You Love a Hippopotomus."
"The 'Hippo' song is especially fun," said Wood, "because it includes the young daughters and friends of chorus members. They're going to steal the show."
Founded in 1997, the Juneau Pride Chorus is sponsored by Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays Juneau and is comprised of mothers, daughters, sisters, lovers and grandmothers. The common bond is a love of singing and the celebration of diversity.
