JUNEAU - Five nurses from Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau were recognized at the 2009 March of Dimes Nurse of the Year event held November 20 in Anchorage.
The Nurse of the Year awardees were Justine Muench ("Legend of Nursing" category), Deb Manowski ("Legend of Nursing" category), Ami Reifenstein ("Rising Star" category), Judy Cernobyl ("Legend of Nursing" category) and Tamara Simone-Collins, "(Ambulatory Nursing" category.)
The March of Dimes Nurse of the Year program recognizes nurses in twenty different categories. The recipients in each category are RNs or LPNs whose leadership and contributions have made a significant impact in their community and the profession of nursing. Patients, friends, colleagues and other health professionals nominate up to 100 nurses in Alaska.
In all, fourteen nurses at Bartlett Regional Hospital were nominated. The nominees were as follows: Justine Muench, Joyce Mathers, Luke Dihle, Michelle van Kirk, Melinda Campbell, Debra Manowski, Nancy White, Tamara Simone-Collins, Rhio Harper, Carolyn O'Hara, MJ Hinman, Judy Cernobyl, Ami Reifenstein, and Mary Neary.
