A news brief that appeared in the Nov 19 issue of the CCW titled "State reduces winter road maintenance" contained inaccurate information.

Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities spokesman Roger Wetherell said the state will not cut back on winter road maintenance anywhere in Alaska. Wetherell said the state will be contacting individual communities and the DOT&PF will "provide the maintenance commensurate with the funding level we were appropriated."

Wetherell said the state will not overlook protecting the traveling public during winter and that state priorities will be Airports, roads on school bus routes and residential roads, in that order.
