Witness in Stevens trial says he lied on stand

Government witness David Anderson, who worked on Sen. Ted Stevens house for his uncle, former VECO executive Bill Allen, is now saying he lied when testifying against Stevens.

Anderson testified during the trial that he did not have an agreement with the Justice Department promising him immunity, but wrote in a Nov. 15 letter to U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan that there was an understanding between the Justice Department and himself that his testimony would mean immunity for him and 12 friends and relatives.

Stevens was convicted in October on multiple counts of failing to disclose $250,000 in home renovations and gifts.
