Drug dealers receive hefty prison sentences

JUNEAU - Two Juneau men convicted of smuggling nearly $1.7 million worth the cocaine into the capital city on commercial flights were sentenced on Nov. 20.

Vonnie Williams, 44, received 30 years in prison and his co-defendant, Aaron Washington, 42, was sentenced to 15 years in jail.

Superior Court Judge Patricia Collins said Washington was given a lighter sentence because his chances for rehabilitation were higher than that of Williams, who possesses a lengthy criminal record.
