The awards recognize each school's efforts in promoting employee wellness within their workplaces.
UAS created a wellness team and is holding weekly wellness team meetings, picked up senior management support, joined the Wellness Councils of America, set up a health/wellness bulletin board, and developed an employee interest survey that will be used to drive programming that starts in the next couple of weeks.
Sheldon Jackson is working with Premera Blue Cross on conducting an online employee health risk appraisal, joined WELCOA, created a wellness team that meets weekly, and partnered with its Community Activity Council to plan and sponsor a campuswide Wellness Fair from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Rasmussen Student Center.
The Sitka Employee Wellness Coalition is a community-wide organization promoting workplace wellness in Sitka.
It was created as a follow-up to September's Well Workplace University.
The coalition is co-sponsored by the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, Sitka Community Hospital and the Steps to a Healthier SE Alaska program. The coalition's next meeting is from 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Harrigan Centennial Hall.
