The Glory Hole in Juneau is looking for more holiday food donations for its Thanksgiving baskets. Each basket contains a turkey or a ham, canned beans and corn, cranberry jelly, stuffing, gravy, butter, mashed potatoes, pie, rolls, and hopefully a few extras. As of now, the Glory Hole has about 100 families signed up to receive a basket. They have a good amount of frozen rolls, and five turkeys. Mariya Lovishchuk, Glory Hole director, said this is not a great scenario because they are scheduled to distribute the first 30 baskets this Thursday.
"If you would like to drop off a frozen turkey or other Thanksgiving basket items at the Glory Hole on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or any time after that we would greatly appreciate it," she said. "We will need these items all the way to November 22."
Glory Hole also is still accepting orders for its tamale fundraiser.
"We are getting ready to make the tamales to pay for replacing the rot in our building," Lovishchuk said. "If you have not ordered your dozen very delicious tamales, and would like one, please do so now. Chicken, pork, vegetarian, and dessert tamales are available. They will be ready on 11/19 and can be picked up at the Glory Hole or delivered to your house at no additional cost. To order, simply send an email with what type you want (sorry no mixed bags are available), your phone number, and if you want pick up or delivery. We will take a payment when you get the tamales."
