The United States Postal Service is recommending that anyone shipping packages to military personnel mark Nov. 13 on their calendars.
"We always suggest they mail packages as quickly as possible so they can get them to their loved ones on time," Denise Warner, a spokeswoman for the United States Postal Service, said.
Parcel Post shipments need to be sent by Nov. 13 to arrive at more than 80 worldwide military installations in time for the holidays.
First-class letters may be sent as late as Dec. 11 for some addresses.
The post office has also put together a kit for military families that contains boxes, customs forms, Mail-Pacs and Priority Mail tape. The kits can be ordered at no cost by calling 1-800-610-8734.
Postage, however, must be paid at time of shipment.
Families who are shipping packages to friends or family in Europe but are not military can ship Global Economy until Monday and deadlines for Global Economy shipments to Mexico are Nov. 20.
A complete list of shipping deadlines for military addresses and countries is available at www.usps.com.
