Through the efforts of the steering committee, and the financial support of the Juneau Empire, Coeur Alaska and AEL&P, this event raised over $1,200 to help our office be able to provide relief to those affected by disaster.
We are especially glad that those who attended the event have committed to making their community a safer place to live.
The American Red Cross knows that economic recovery speeds up all other types of recovery, and the planning that businesses do today will help them recover more quickly from something as small as a one-business fire to something as large as a major earthquake, landslide or short-range tsunami.
Businesses that commit to disaster planning will have employees trained in first aid and CPR, will have back-up sites for their electronic data and will have contributed significantly to the safety and well-being of their employees families.
We applaud all of those who have taken this small step and look forward to hearing about the successes yet to come.
