"This year has a perfect storm of reasons that will cause people to cut back on their support of community needs," Williams said. In election years we always see a reduction in the support for the campaign, but this year, on top of that, there are very scary economic circumstances causing job losses, foreclosures, major losses in retirement accounts - all of which cause people to cut back on discretionary expenses. Unfortunately, those same forces are going to increase the need for the services provided by United Way agencies."
