SHI hosts talks in honor of Native American Heritage Month

Sealaska Heritage Institute is hosting a lecture series in honor of Native American Heritage Month. David A. Boxley will begin Tuesday, Nov. 3, with a lecture called "The Revival of Tsimshian Art."

Next will be Steve Brown, Tues., Nov. 10, with "The Antiquity and Evolution of Northwest Coast Art." A panel will speak Friday, Nov. 13 on retrospective views of Dr. Walter Soboleff; Robert Davidson will speak Tues., Nov. 17 on "Discovering Haida Art: A Personal Journey,"; Perry Eaton will speak Tues., Nov. 24 on Art of Our Ancestors: Kodiak Island, and a panel composed of artist Alison Bremner, carver David R. Boxley, artist and Trickster Company co-owner Rico Worl, and musician Nick Galanin will speak Thurs., Dec. 3 on "Northwest Coast Art Into the Future."

All lectures are from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Walter Soboleff Building. All are free.
