Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation invites the public to an informational meeting on its 2007 cruise ship oversight program and plans for the 2008 cruise ship season.

The meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Juneau Legislative Information Office, Terry Miller Building, Suite 111.

"Many people have expressed a keen interest in Alaska's new Ocean Ranger program," said DEC Commissioner Larry Hartig.

"We are ready to talk about the progress we've made in implementing this first of its kind program. We also look forward to discussing our plans for '08."

On the agenda are status report of the Large Commercial Passenger Vessel Wastewater Discharge General Permit and 2007 compliance, Alaska's new vessel-tracking system, and other requirements of the new cruise ship law.

"We hope for a good turnout. Public input is important to ensuring this program's success and will be most welcome," Hartig added.
