My definition of success is finding and maintaining a balance between both my professional and my family lives. My success as a professional is defined when each one of my clients is pleased with my services and we have built a long term relationship. My business isn't based on one deal, but on the positive relationships I have built with my clients. I believe that if I take care of my clients and focus on that, then all the rest will follow; doing the right thing will always pay off in the long run. When friends ask my clients, "Who's your Relator?" I want them to feel good about saying, "Call Holly, she'll take good care of you". Ultimately, finding that balance in taking care of my clients and taking care of my family is the goal for me and certainly, any working mom.
What special challenges or advantages have you faced because you're a woman?
I don't think being a woman has been as much of a challenge as being a working wife and mother. I am blessed to work with a wonderful group of people in the real estate community, so while there have been moments that I wanted to scream because some guy thought I must be stupid because I was a woman, (ugh!), overall, being a woman hasn't been an issue. But as a mom, I have to set boundaries and remember that my family is always #1. The challenge comes when my daughter has a soccer game and a client wants an open house at the same time or one of the girls is sick and I have an inspection. Dads are great, but sometimes girls just need their mom. I strive to meet everyone's needs and that is where the challenge comes in.
