JUNEAU - The Juneau Amateur Radio Club (JARC) and the National Weather Service (NWS) are inviting all Boy and Girl Scouts to join the "Jamboree On The Air" event to be held at the National Weather Service building on the Back Loop Road.
This is a world wide event sponsored by the the World Scouting Council. The JARC/NWS amateur radio station will be on the air from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Weather Service will be giving guided tours of their forecasting facilities.
If the radio bands are open scouts will be given an opportunity to talk to other scouts and ham radio operators around the world. The Weather Service personnel will explain the complexities of making weather forecasts.
