SITKA - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) announced Sept. 29 that that Richard L. Kraft, MD, has returned to Alaska to join the medical staff at the SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka.
Dr. Kraft worked at Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital for eight years from 1987-95. Before returning to Sitka, he spent the past 13 years working in South Dakota Indian Health Service sites (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and Standing Rock). During his second stint with SEARHC, Dr. Kraft will work as a hospitalist taking care of Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital's inpatient and after-hours emergency patients.

Dr. Kraft is a graduate of the University of South Dakota Medical School in Vermillion, and he completed a residency in family medicine at the University of North Dakota in Bismarck. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Kraft earned his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in microbiology, from South Dakota State University in Brookings.
"The 'atmosphere' of the entire hospital staff is wonderful," Dr. Kraft said. "It is great to be back."
