Support available for hurricane victims

Last week, Love INC opened Juneau's official support center for victims of Hurricane Katrina who relocate to Alaska's capital city. Mayor Bruce Botelho has asked the organization to manage the process of housing up to 10 families or individuals for up to three months. Priority will be to locate displaced families of Juneau residents, as well as providing housing and support for persons relocated by FEMA, The American Red Cross or other relief organizations.

JCVB partners are asked to consider donating resources that may be available this time of year, particularly hotel rooms, bed and breakfast lodging, surplus stock of clothing or food items and air or boat transportation within Southeast Alaska.

Referrals and donations may be contributed by calling at 780-4090 or sending an e-mail to love.inc@gci.net.
