Auction of historical measures
Are you a seasoned collector of all things Alaskan?

Do you have a keen eye for quality and a nose for a bargain?

Would you like to support your local and statewide historical societies and take home something special for yourself? Then this is the event for you.

The Alaska Historical Society's 6th annual silent auction opens for public viewing and bidding at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at at Centennial Hall.

Donations of Alaskan art, books, and rare artifacts from all over the state will be on display for two days only during the Museums Alaska and Alaska Historical Society Annual Joint Conference.

The public is invited to browse and "bid outrageously" on these numerous lovely items of yesterday in support of new and ongoing historical projects by the Alaska Historical Society as well as your local Gastineau Channel Historical Society and the Juneau-Douglas City Museum.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Bidding closes at 8 p.m. Friday, and all items must be picked up and paid for by noon Saturday, Oct. 7.
