Learning Connection receives a $20,000 grant from Fred Meyer
The Learning Connection is pleased to announce it has received a grant totaling $20,000 from the Fred Meyer Foundation for its after-school programs that provide homework help, literacy activities, and computer labs to school-age students at multiple locations throughout Juneau.

The Learning Connection (TLC) offers free GED preparation and adult education, free computer training, free family literacy programs, and free job assistance services at its downtown, Cedar Park, Gruening Park and Geneva Woods locations along with providing GED services in communities throughout Southeast Alaska.

The Learning Connection (TLC) recently received a $20,000 grant from the Fred Meyer Foundation to help staff its after-school programs at multiple locations throughout Juneau. The Learning Connection provides free GED preparation and adult education, free computer training, free family literacy programs (including after-school programs), and free job assistance services at four locations throughout Juneau and in communities throughout Southeast Alaska.
"The Fred Meyer Foundation was particularly impressed by the Learning Connection's track record and its programs," Glynda Brockhoff, Philanthropy Coordinator for Fred Meyer and the Fred Meyer Foundation said.

"We hope that this grant will help TLC continue the important work it is doing to enrich the health of the community. We are proud to be a part of the Juneau community and are committed to helping where we can."

The Fred Meyer Foundation assists nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping children and reducing hunger in communities served by 128 stores in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Idaho. The Fred Meyer Foundation has awarded grants totaling over $7.4 million since it began awarding grants in 1998. The Learning Connection is a program of SERRC - Alaska's Educational Resource Center - that provides educational services and solutions to students of all ages throughout the state.
