Pick a lucky ducky in Juneau derby

Does your duck have the luck? Find out in the Juneau Duck Derby at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Twin Lakes.

Rotary International clubs of Juneau and Bauer and Gates Real Estate are sponsoring the event, which benefits Juneau's youth programs through Rotary.

Ducks are adopted for chances to win prizes. A random number will be assigned for each duck adopted. A flock of 100 ducks is $500, a giant quack pack of 50 ducks is $250, a waddle pack of 20 ducks is $100, a quack pack of 6 ducks is $30 and a solo duck is $5.

The rubber ducks will be released in the water at Twin Lakes and winning ducks will be plucked from the lake prior and up to 2 p.m.

Ducks may be adopted from Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, Behrends Mechanical, Elgee Rehfeld Mertz CPAs, True North Federal Credit Union and Subway.

Prizes include a grand prize of $1 million, first place of round trip tickets for two anywhere Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air flies in the United States, Canada or Mexico, second place of $1,000 cash donated by Alaska Knifeworks and third place of a La-Z-Boy recliner donated by Southeast Furniture Warehouse. Door prizes also will be awarded.
