Haines plans "Coho Days" celebration

HAINES - There's something fishy going on in Haines the first week of October. The community will be hosting its inaugural "Coho Days" celebration. A rollicking party featuring fish hors d'oeuvres will be held at the Harbor Bar on Saturday, Oct. 6. Activities will include a Duct Tape clothing competition, as well as contests for ugliest beards, best and worst denim, and more.

"October can be one of the most beautiful months in Haines," said organizer Kristine Harder. "With golden leaves and the silvers running there's a lot to celebrate."

The Lynn Canal Players will also be performing "Oklahoma!" at the Chilkat Center that weekend.
