SERRC, Alaska's Educational Resource Center, provides direct student services, school and district support services, and community services to students of all ages throughout the state. The board of directors of this non-profit, private organization appointed Sheryl Weinberg to the agency's top spot. Weinberg has been employed at SERRC since 1993. Her responsibilities include supervising 100 staff members that work out of offices in Anchorage and Juneau along with traveling the state to deliver educational services, overseeing some 100 grants that impact thousands of Alaskan students every year, and creating and implementing programs that will improve student achievement. Along with SERRC's K-12 programs, the agency also offers adult education and family programs under The Learning Connection banner, which offers free GED and adult education, free computer training, free family literacy programs, and workforce development services at several locations throughout Southeast Alaska.
