Mobile mammogram van visits POW Sept. 26 to Oct. 13
KLAWOCK, Sept. 17, 2008 - The mobile mammogram van will visit the Prince of Wales Island communities of Klawock and Craig from Friday, Sept. 26, through Monday, Oct. 13.

The van will be at the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Alicia Roberts Medical Center (ARMC) in Klawock from Friday, Sept. 26, to Thursday, Oct. 9 (no weekend appointments scheduled). It will be at the Craig Clinic on Friday, Oct. 10, and Monday, Oct. 13.

Women wanting to schedule a mammogram should call ARMC in Klawock at 755-4800 or the Craig Clinic at 826-3257. Women should schedule their mammograms at the clinic where they normally receive their health care.

A complete women's health exam within the past 6 months (including a clinical breast exam and heart health screening) is required before women schedule their mammogram at the SEARHC Alicia Roberts Medical Center. Women living in outlying Prince of Wales Island communities can arrange to have these exams done at their local health clinics before they schedule a mobile mammogram in Klawock.

Women with no insurance and/or a limited income may be eligible for free screening services. To find out if you qualify, call Mary Dinon of ARMC at 755-4946.

The mobile mammography program is run through a partnership between Bartlett Regional Hospital and the SEARHC Breast and Cervical Health Program.
