3rd Annual Voices for Recovery Poetry Slam on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 7pm at the UAS campus, 113 Hendrickson Building. Write a poem, story or one-person play about those who support drug and alcohol recovery. Spectators welcome. For more information contact Patty at 780-3044.
The Widowed Persons Program plans a Tour of the Ladd Macaulay Visitor Center (DIPAC) on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 11am. All widows and widowers are invited to join our group for this tour. Mental Illness Awareness Week events Oct. 5-11. This is a National Week long event of the National Alliance of Mental Illness, recognized in all 50 states and internationally. The first gathering and Kick-Off event of the Juneau Partners for Mental and Physical Health will be Oct. 9. A coalition of education, support and advocacy organizations working together and/or in support of individual, family and community health from 6:15-8:30pm at the Juneau Senior Center. Bring a desert and enjoy the evening. Reading of the Governor's Proclamation in support of Mental Illness Awareness Week will be at 12:15pm at the Capital Steps. Come and support families and individuals struggling and working toward a higher quality of life and recovery.
