Crawford was acclaimed as "an exceptional new performer" by Andrew Porter in The New Yorker, and the San Francisco Chronicle described Crawford as "a fine-grained mezzo-soprano of remarkable agility with viola-like colors."
Crawford is well known to audiences as a soloist in both oratorio and recital venues. Currently she and collaborative pianist Susan Ricci are completing production of a CD of American Art Songs. Crawford has presented American song recitals in China, Austria and Mexico.
Crawford has appeared as a soloist at major houses in the United States including Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York City, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D. C. and the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore. She has recorded on the Albany and VOX labels and has appeared on CBS and PBS.
