The last day to place nominations for the Alaska March of Dimes "Nurse of the Year" is Sept. 30. Marcia Day, manager of the Bartlett Regional Hospital Obstetrics Unit, said the only eligibility requirements are that the nominee has worked in Alaska for at least one year, through August 2005, as a registered nurse or as a licensed practical nurse. The program recognizes nurses in 18 categories.
According to Day, six Juneau nurses were nominated for Nurse of the Year, when the late Andrea Foldenauer, a Bartlett Regional Hospital nurse, was recognized as a "Legend of Nursing."
Nominations may be made by calling 800-478-5245 or by downloading an application at www.marchofdimes.com/alaska. For more information call Day at 796-8424.
