Internationally known artist Carl Brenders will make an appearance Saturday, Sept. 23 in Juneau at Southeast Alaska Artworks to meet fans of his work and give a lecture.

The Belguim born artist is famous for his wildlife images. He has produced wildlife illustrations for more than 20 books in the series "The Secret Life of Animals."

Southeast Alaska Artworks owner Glen Hamilton said he is excited to offer Juneau residents an opportunity to meet an international artist.

"Juneau is a big art community. We're trying to go above and beyond and get international artists here. If this show goes well there will be more in the future," Hamilton said.

Brenders divides his time between his homes in Belgium and France. In 1998 he was inducted into the U.S. Art Hall of Fame.

"In my scenes of nature, I like to share the experience of being within the intimate world of the animals - a little moment in paradise together with them," Brenders said in a press release.

On Sept. 23 Brenders will be at the studio from noon-4 p.m. and will give a lecture at 2 p.m.
