Singers/actors are invited to audition for roles in either or both productions. First auditions will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, and the early afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 14, with callbacks later that day. For the initial audition, singers are encouraged, but not required, to perform a piece of their choice from one of the productions. Or, singers can sing a song or aria of their choice.
"The Mikado" will be directed by Hal Ryder, a theater professor at Cornish College of the Arts of Seattle who has directed over 120 shows all over the world. "The Marriage of Figaro" will be directed by Paul Shipper, who has sung in several Juneau opera productions, is co-director of Bottom's Dreams Theater Co. in New York. He has also has acted, sung and directed spoken drama, historical entertainments and opera throughout the United States, Asia and Europe. Both directors are being flown to Juneau for these auditions.

Singers who are not in Juneau that weekend may request an alternative audition date, but must provide a CD or cassette tape of appropriate material 3 to 6 minutes in length by the audition date. However, it is strongly encouraged that singers audition on those dates if possible.
