SKAGWAY - The mobile mammogram van will visit Skagway on Sept. 14-17. The van uses digital imaging technology.
The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) encourages Alaska Native women living in Skagway to take the time to get a mobile mammogram. If you are Native and have no insurance, the SEARHC Community Resources Department (formerly Contract Health Services) will pay 100 percent of the cost for your mobile mammogram. If you have insurance, SEARHC Community Resources will pick up the balance after your insurance has been billed.
Women wanting to schedule a mammogram should call Lori Tronrud of Skagway's Dahl Memorial Clinic at the Edward A. and Jenny Rasmuson Community Health Center at 983-2255.
Non-Native women with a limited income may be eligible to receive these services for free. To find out if you qualify, please contact the State of Alaska Breast and Cervical Health Check program at 1-800-410-6266. The mobile mammogram van is sponsored by Bartlett Regional Hospital.
