New regulations for Gustavus bull moose hunt
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is implementing changes to the structure of the bull moose hunt at Gustavus, to enable them to manage the hunt and the moose harvest more effectively. The following is a list of changes to the hunt from the 2005 season.

Season dates: Sept. 15-Oct. 15 (subject to closure by Emergency Order)

Legal shooting hours: first light till noon each day (therefore, all moose hunters must cease hunting at noon each day)

Reporting requirements: successful hunters must report to ADF&G by 6 p.m. on the day of their harvest. To report, hunters must call the following toll free number 1-888-956-6673 (1-888-95MOOSE). This number can also be called by hunters to get information on the status of the Gustavus moose hunt and Emergency Order information.

Successful hunters must also return their hunt report and the lower jaw of their moose to the Douglas ADF&G office within 5 days of harvest.

All hunters must register to participate in this hunt. Registration permits are available at the Douglas Fish & Game office.
