Psychic medium John Edward visits Juneau

JUNEAU - Crossing over is not an uncommon task for Juneauites - crossing the bridge, crossing a stream, crossing a t. But last Thursday, the town got a chance to cross over a different dimension with a visit from psychic medium John Edward.

Edward said he was young when he became aware of his psychic abilities, which include predicting future events and communicating with the spirits of those who have passed away. It is the latter of the two that became the main occurrence on his television shows and his live performances.

Edward is most known for his television series, "Crossing Over with John Edward," which aired from 1999 to 2004, and "John Edward Cross Country," which has aired since 2006. Though he is not currently working on a show for television, he travels around the world doing live appearances as well as private readings. He has also authored several books on spiritual topics.

Hundreds of audience members sat anxiously in Centennial Hall as Edward answered questions and gave readings, acting as the medium delivering messages of advice and well-wishing from the "Other Side." He gave several readings to members of Juneau's audience, many of who appeared shocked at the accuracy of Edward's perceptions.

Edward appeared in Anchorage as a part of last year's tour, and it went well enough to warrant a revisit, this year adding Juneau and Fairbanks to his schedule. He said the "extreme appreciation" he received during his first visit was enough to make him want to come back.

It's not common for Edward to tour in towns as small as Juneau where many of the audience members may know each other. According to him, the small town vibe may be good or bad for his cause.

At the Juneau event, Edward questioned a woman who raised her had to ask a question about his abilities.

"Are you pregnant?" Edward asked.

She confirmed that she was, in fact, seven weeks along in her pregnancy but wasn't yet showing, after which Edward apologized in case he had exposed information that was meant to be confidential.

"If there's something private that is coming through, folks might not want to validate that information," Edward said. "On the other hand, there are more people who might be familiar with the messages to validate the connections."

Edward's newest project is a spiritual web site called Infinite Quest, online at infinitequest.com. The site features sections on astrology, tarot, numerology, energy and other things metaphysical. In the fall, the site will launch online interactive readings, where users can receive personal readings via webcam. Edward has invited those interested to participate in a free one-month trial, available by entering the promo code EV2009 during registration.

Edward has now been sharing his abilities for nearly 25 years. After all that time, he said he is still constantly amazed at "watching the process unfold."

"I'm still just a student of the Universe, in awe of the unconditional force of love, and the passion for family on the Other Side to reach beyond the veil to connect with us, (even) without a medium," Edward said. "As the medium, I just help validate it's happening."
