Making Local Delicious

The Juneau Local Food Festival returns this year with its gala of locally produced goods. Celebrate Southeast sustainability! The festival will be held at the JACC Saturday, August 28 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, go to juneaufarmersmarket.wikispaces.com.

Beat the Odds!

Show support for the race against breast cancer this weekend by joining in the 19th annual Beat The Odds 5K run and 2 mile walk. The event will start at 9 a.m. at the Riverbend School in Juneau. T-Shirts will be given to the first 350 to register! The run in being held in conjunction with the Prostate Cancer Run. For more information, contact Cancer Connection at 796-2273.

The Force will be With you... Saturday!

KXLL strikes back this weekend with its Star Wars Party in Juneau. Put on your best Wedge Antilles costume and head on down to the JACC. Music, dancing, prizes and more. The festivities begin at the JACC from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 28. $5 cover! $5 beers! The proceeds go to support KXLL.

This has been listed as a "no Jar-Jar event"; dress up as a Gungan at your own risk.

Into the Wilderness

The Sitka Conservation Society (SCS) is offering up the chance to join them for them for their next boat trip, "Our Legacy, West Chichagof-Yakobi Wilderness." You can explore Suloia Bay located within the Wilderness boundary as well as other areas near by. Learn about the wilderness stewardship projects SCS has been working on this summer and how it helped establish this amazing Wilderness area. Tickets will be available at Old Harbor Books in Sitka.
