Turn back-to-school shopping into lessons of generosity
By adding some simple gifts and a shoe box to their back-to-school shopping list, Juneau-area kids can join the effort to help Operation Christmas Child share a powerful message of hope with some 8 million suffering children in more than 90 countries.

"Filling a shoebox for a needy child is so much fun, and this is a great time of year to purchase back-to-school items," said Erin Forsythe, Northwest regional director for Operation Christmas Child.

"Children of all ages enjoy crayons, coloring books, pens and pencils-these items are so accessible to us, and I love getting them on sale this time of year to pack in my shoebox. Showing God's love by way of a giving a simple shoebox gift can change a child's life forever."

The gifts are then delivered to children worldwide suffering from natural disaster, disease, war, terrorism, famine, and poverty.

Step-by-step shoe box packing instructions are available online at www.samaritanspurse.org.
