1. What’s your most memorable performance?

My most memorable performance is the one I did most recently: playing Anita in The Orpheus Project’s “West Side Story” just this past February/March here in Juneau. The role was a dream role for me as a singer and a dancer. Plus, the cast was amazing, the “behind the scenes” team was incredible, and the whole experience was just a lot of fun.

2. How about your embarrassing moment while performing?

This one is easy because I will never forget it! I was a junior in high school and my dance company was at competition. We were toward the end of our jazz number and in a triangle formation. I was to the right of the girl that was the tip of the triangle - so right up front - and my mind went completely blank. I stopped dancing and totally forgot what I was doing. I looked around and quickly recovered, but it was definitely noticeable and the piece ended up getting a High Silver. It was SO embarrassing! (And it has never happened again!)

3. Name three singers who have influenced you throughout your singing career:

Ani DiFranco, Zooey Deschanel, and the Spice Girls (this one was hard).

4. Are there any local performers who inspire you?

Marimbas! And I love Playboy Spaceman, too! Bands that are fun to dance to and have a good time!

5. Where’s your favorite place to sing (besides the stage)?

My car while on road trips.

6. If you could burst out in song anywhere you wanted, where would it be?

On top of a mountain like Maria in the “Sound of Music” ;) Haha!

7. What’s on your playlist, what’s your jam?

Depends on my mood ;) But most recently, I’ve been listening to the War on Drugs, Sylvan Esso, Dr. Dog, CFCF, Tycho, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Ani DiFranco’s newest album.

8. What are three things you love most about living in Juneau?

I love how easy it is to go outside on an adventure right from my back door - within minutes I can hike up a mountain, walk on a glacier, kayak to islands in the wilderness - one cannot ask for more! I also love the wildlife. I will never tire of bald eagles swooping by my office window, or of seeing seals, sea lions, and especially whales! Third, I love the amazing art community, which is giant, for such a small place. There are so many opportunities to get involved as a performer and so many diverse local artists, who are always on display for First Fridays. So much fun!

9. You have three sunny days in Juneau… how do you spend your time?

Hiking and camping on a ridge line or climbing the Mendenhall Towers.

10. What’s the number one item on your bucket list?

Travel the world.
