Welcome to the 2006-2007 school year
A new school year brings anticipation and excitement for students, families and educators. This is an opportunity for parents and students to set goals and target achievement levels for the school year. We want to work with you to help you realize your goals and make this a great year for Juneau School District students.

We are grateful to the State Legislature and Borough Assembly for increasing the funds for Juneau schools and allowing the Board to add teachers and maintain programs when federal grants ended.

The best predictor of students' achievement is the level of involvement of their parents in their education. Think now about setting up a homework space in your home, establishing a study schedule with your children, and getting involved in your children's schools. We welcome parent involvement in the classrooms, activities and decision-making forums. Parents and community members are invited to serve on the District's strategic plan committees. This year's strategic plan will be focused on rigor and relevant curriculum, positive relationships, and responsive interventions.

The first day of school for students is August 23. We are excited as we work with our skilled teachers, support staff, and administrators to prepare for a productive year for Juneau's students. Thank you for all you do to support the students in your family.
