Ms. Meili, a long-time Juneau resident and lifelong Alaskan, died July 26, 2006, in Portland, Ore. after a short battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 8, 1962, in Yreka, California. In 1968 her family moved to Coffman Cove. Over the years she resided in Wrangell, Whale Pass, Anchorage and Juneau. Being an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorswoman, she loved living in Alaska, but most enjoyed Juneau. Her main love was for that of her family and friends.
She was an active aerie member of the Juneau Eagles 4200 for many years.
She was preceded in death by father Carl F. Paul; mother Mary K. Paul-Reed; grandfather Paul Johnson; grandmother Freda Johnson,; and cousins Scott Manton and Felicia White.
Survivors include her fiancé Joe R. Dorney of Juneau; two daughters, Nena M. Hendrickson and her fiancé Jim R. Conkle of Juneau and Hannah L. Meili of Anchorage; a brother, Larry D. Paul of Juneau; two aunts, Louise Hackett of Oregon, Donna Rivera of Washington; two uncles, Frank Paul of Arkansas and L.E. Hackett of Oregon; and cousins Cassandra Paul of Wasilla, Dell Hackett of Oregon, Robin Manton of Nevada, and James White of Wasilla; and many friends.
