TONGASS N.F. - Does the recent sunshine remind you of even more reasons you love the Tongass? Does seeing a doe and fawn or humpback and calf inspire you to write?
Then it's time to take a few moments to capture why you love the Tongass in writing by submitting an essay for the "I Love the Tongass" essay contest.
Children up to age 12 have their own category, so encourage the young Faulkner in your neighborhood to submit an essay too. The deadline for all entries is Aug. 31.
Prizes include a signed and matted Mark Kelley print and select goods from Sagebrush Dry Goods in Kake. Winning essays will be distributed to over 5000 locals and visitors in the 2010 Tongass Tidebooks and published on www.ilovethetongass.org.
Essays should be based on why you love the Tongass and be no more than 750 words long. Please include your name, best contact information, and the community where you live when submitting your essay. You may also include photos (JPEG format only).
