Sitka boy named July's safe cyclist
SITKA - Daniel Mossburg has been named the Safe Cyclist of the Month for July 2007 by the SEARHC Injury Prevention Department and Sitka's Bicycle Friendly Community project.

Mossburg was chosen Safe Cyclist of the Month because he made Sitka's roads safer by riding with traffic, wearing a properly fitted helmet, having appropriate reflectives, and by sharing the road with other cyclists and drivers. He received a generous prize package that included donations from Harry Race Pharmacy, True Value Hardware and the SEARHC Injury Prevention Department.

The Safe Cyclist of the Month award is given on a random day each month this summer to encourage safe cycling practices in Sitka. Cyclists are urged to ride with traffic, obey traffic laws and be reflective at night. Motorists are asked to please be mindful of cyclists and their right to "share the road."
