Franklin Street Gallery opens at Baranof Hotel

JUNEAU - The Baranof Hotel announces the opening of a new fine art gallery, "The Franklin Street Gallery at the Baranof Hotel" during First Friday, Aug. 6, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The Franklin Street Gallery at the Baranof Hotel offers an attractive and permanent space at a well-known local landmark as a classic art gallery. The focus of the gallery will be to display quality, collectible, original artwork by Southeast Alaska artists, including in particular, landscape paintings of Alaska.

Steve Hamilton, manager of the Baranof Hotel in Juneau, Alaska, and major supporter of the arts in Juneau, invited artists in the community to make use of the largely unused hotel space fronting Franklin Street. Five local artists, Constance Baltuck, Barbara Craver, Cristine Crooks, Pua Maunu and Jane Stokes will operate the space as a fine arts gallery. These artists have exhibited in Juneau for several years in local non-profit venues and at established retail establishments and local museums. Daniel Carson, assistant manager of the Baranof, will be the hotel liaison for the gallery.
