Schedule of Events | Ketchikan Blueberry Arts Festival

Friday, Aug. 2

2 p.m. - Blueberry Pet & Doll Parade. Sponsored by Community Connections Early Learning Program. Open to kids of all ages. Dress up your favorite pets and dolls and meet in the city parking at the corner of Grant St. and Main St. Our escorts, the Ketchikan Fire Department Pipes & Drums will lead us to the new Fire Department for cookies provided by Wells Fargo and the Ketchikan Volunteer Fire Department.

3 p.m. - Deadline for Best Blueberry Dish Contest, Main Street Gallery, 330 Main Street (entries served at exhibit opening reception).

5-7 p.m. - Blueberry Art Exhibit Opening, Main Street Gallery, 330 Main Street.

7:30 p.m. - 16th annual Gigglefeet Dance Festival, Kayhi Auditorium. For tickets: 225-4792/firstcityplayers.org. Thank you to our partners, Ketchikan Theatre Ballet and First City Players.

Saturday, Aug. 3

8 a.m. - Registration opens for fun run: Front of Police Station, Grant & Main.

9 a.m. - Fun Run: 1- Mile Children's Run (12 & under) and 5K Walkers, presented by Ketchikan Running Club.

9:30 a.m. - Fun Run: 5K & 10K, presented by the Ketchikan Runners Club.

9:30 a.m. - Slug weigh-in for the Big Slug Contest! (12 & under) Methodist Church parking lot, presented by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game.

10 a.m. - Blueberry Brunch and Raw Foods Un-Cooking Class, Ketchikan Public Library. Join hostess Betty Rawker from Portland for a little un-cooking! This class is free and the menu includes: raw blueberry cheesecake, raw almond butter brownies , fresh raw zucchini pasta with cashew alfredo, vegan brazil nut parmesan, homemade hazelnut milk and blueberry and chocolate chia pudding. Class includes hands on instruction and lots of tasting. All items are raw, paleo, gluten free, grain free, dairy free, refined sugar free, and soy free!

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Booths open.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Blueberry Art Exhibit on Display, Main Street Gallery, 330 Main Street.

10:30 a.m. - Slug Race, (12 & under), Methodist Church parking lot, sponsored by Alaska Department of Fish & Game.

11:30 a.m. - Pie eating contest, Methodist Church lot. Thanks to Bar Harbor Restaurant for the pies.

12-5 p.m. - Battle of the Bands, Methodist Church lot.

1-3 p.m. - Ketchikan Underwater - Community Art Project, Main Street Gallery. Everyone is invited to contribute to a community art piece. Paint and fun provided.

3 p.m. - Great Blueberry Ball Roll, Main Street, presented by Ketchikan Youth Court. Purchase your blueberry ball at the KYC's booth.

4 p.m. - Blueberry Beard and Mustache Contest, Mike's Elbow Room. Can your facial hair compete for Best Artistic Presentation, Wild Man or People's Choice?

Sunday, Aug. 4

3 p.m. - Annual Richard Braughtigan, Lillian Ference, and Dick Whittaker Memorial Trout Fishing in America Poetry Slam and Sockeye Cinquain Contest, O'Brien's Pub & Eatery.

7:30 p.m. - 16th annual Gigglefeet Dance Festival, Kayhi Auditorium For tickets: 225-4792/firstcityplayers.org.
