Health Secretary Leavitt recognizes state's fitness
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt recognize Alaska's first-place victory in the National President's Challenge on July 24 by presenting a plaque to Gov. Sarah Palin.

The President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports sponsored the national challenge to encourage everyone to complete at least 30 minutes of physical activity five days a week during the six-week competition this spring.

The President's Council announced in June that Alaska, with 2,868 participants, had the highest per capita rate of participation among all states.
