Women wanting to schedule a mammogram should call Sandy Howard of the Hoonah Medical Center at 945-3235. Women who aren't due for a screening for a couple of months also should call, because it's possible the mobile mammogram van might be able to fit you in for an exam.
All women will need to arrange to have a current clinical breast exam (done within the past six months). If you have not had a current breast exam since March, you will need to arrange to have one before you schedule your mammogram.
If you also are due for your women's health exam, including your Pap smear and heart health screening, please let Sandy at the Hoonah Medical Center know so sufficient time is scheduled for you to have this done.
Women with no insurance and/or a limited income may be eligible for a free clinical breast exam, heart health screening and mammogram. To find out if you qualify, contact the SEARHC Women's Health Hotline at 1-888-388-8782.
The mobile mammography program is run through a partnership between Bartlett Regional Hospital and the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Breast and Cervical Health Program.
