Friday, July 31

2 p.m. - Pet and Doll Parade, Grant and Main St. to Mission St. and the Library. To participate, gather in parking lot at Grant & Main at 1:30 pm. Sponsored by the Community Connections Early Learning Program and Friends of the Library.

3 p.m. - Deadline for Best Blueberry Dish Contest, Main Street Gallery, 330 Main Street. Entries will be served at the Juried Art Show opening at 5 p.m.

5 to 7 p.m. - Arts Festival Juried Art Show Opening, Main Street Gallery, 330 Main Street.

7:30 p.m. - 12th Annual Gigglefeet Dance Festival, Kayhi Auditorium. For tickets call 225-4792 or visit firstcityplayers.org.

Saturday, August 1

8 a.m. - Registration opens for Fun Run, in front of the police station at Grant and Main Street.

9 a.m. - Fun Run: 1-mile children's run (12 and under) and 5K walkers. Sponsored by the Ketchikan Runners Club.

9:30 a.m. - Fun Run: 5K, Sponsored by the Ketchikan Runners Club.

9:30 a.m. - Slug weigh-in for the Big Slug Contest, Methodist Church parking lot. Sponsored by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Artist, food and game booths and t-shirt sales open, State Office Building parking garage and the Methodist Church parking lot.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Juried Art Show on display, Main Street Gallery, 330 Main Street.

10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Kid's art activity, 330 Main Street.

10:30 a.m. - Slug Race, Methodist Church parking lot, Sponsored by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game.

11:30 a.m. - Pie-eating Contest, Methodist Church parking lot. Sponsored by Bar Harbor Restaurant.

12 to 5 p.m. - Battle of the Bands, Methodist Church parking lot. Sponsored by KPU Telecommunications.

1 p.m. - Spelling Bee, Methodist Church Sanctuary. Sponsored by Southeast Fence Specialists.

2 p.m. - Trivia Contest, Methodist Church Sanctuary. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

3 p.m. - Blueberry Ball Roll, Main Street. Sponsored by the Ketchikan Youth Court.

6:30 p.m. - CHARR's 14th annual Ketchikan Beer Festival, Great Alaskan Lumberjack Arena. Sponsored by CHARR.

7 to 9 p.m. - Square Dancing, Called by Halli Kenoyer, 330 Main Street.

Sunday, August 2

2:30 p.m. - 19th Annual Richard Brautigan & Dick Whitaker Memorial Trout Fishing In America poetry slam "drunken doggerel" contest. Hosted by T.P. Fowler, esq., at the Ketchikan Coffee Company, 207 Stedman St. Sponsored by Soho Coho Gallery and Parnassus Books.
