Juneau Family Health and Birth Center sets groundbreaking
A groundbreaking party for the new Juneau Family Health and Birth Center will take place from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the construction site on Salmon Lane. The general public is invited. Come enjoy cake, cookies, a clown and good company. Children will be able to mark the occasion by joining together to break the ground with an assortment of plastic shovels, which will be provided.

This new facility will allow us to provide a "campus" of health, social service, and educational services for families under one roof. These services will include midwifery care, a community birthing center and a family practice clinic. It also will offer a range of support for families including on-site childcare services, pregnancy, birth and parenting education, Doula support for pregnant, birthing, and postpartum women, exercise classes, a family gathering space, home-visiting support, community referrals, and an extensive lending library. Other nonprofit organizations that provide support and education to individuals and families will have an opportunity to use the classroom for support groups and classes.
