JUNEAU - The Rasmuson Foundation Board of Directors recently awarded $1.86 million to nine Alaska organizations. Projects in Southeast receiving support including the following:
Sheldon Jackson Child Care Center in Sitka was awarded $300,000 to purchase the child care facility that they have occupied since it was built for that purpose in 2005.
The Yakutat School District was awarded $150,000 to conduct renovations on the community's 30-year-old aluminum pool located at the elementary school building.
A $50,000 challenge grant to the Petersburg Community Foundation was approved, contingent on the community raising a one-to-one matching amount between May 15 and July 4.
